Nursing Dementia Care
My partner has been at Hampton Grange for eighteen months or so. He is, on the whole, happy and is lucky enough to have a spacious room with good outlook. This is of great importance to both of us as he is a private individual and does not mix with other residents. His room is his world. He tends to find the use of agency staff frustrating as he prefers to have regular faces around him, but the quality of this care can be higher than from the regular staff. There have also been minor communication problems with staff from Eastern Europe, which is frustrating for those residents who struggle to express themselves or are hard of hearing. Quality of personal care could be improved as teeth/dentures are often left un-cleaned and finger nails uncut and dirty. Food is generally good and varied and Hampton Grange is always happy to accommodate me if I want to stay for lunch. Staff throughout the building are friendly and approachable and treat residents with dignity and respect..
Overall: The most important factor is that my partner is happy. Nothing in this world in perfect but I am content that he is safe and well looked after. Nursing staff will always contact me if anything is amiss. The ambience and surroundings of Hampton Grange make such a big difference to those who have had to give up their own homes.
